Huacaya Alpacas

There are two kinds of alpacas, Huacaya (pronounced Wuh-kai-ya) and Suri alpacas. Huacaya alpacas have very fine, fluffy, crimped fiber, while the Suri alpacas have long, very soft, locks of fiber. Huacaya fiber is attractive to hand spinners.  Our herd only consists of Huacaya alpacas. We purchased our first four alpacas from a wonderful farm in Oxford, Ohio and our journey began.

Our beautiful herd of alpacas is something that we are very proud of at Perch Family Farm. We have worked hard to perfect our creatures’ fiber in order to please not only our potential buyers, but also ourselves. Quality is something we greatly value, and our alpacas do not disappoint. We look forward to expanding our fiber family.
